WWE legend Leilani Kai has been keeping the memory of the female pioneers from the 1980s alive via her social media platforms.

The 1980s were a very special time for women’s wrestling in the WWE (then known as the WWF). Kai, along with the likes of Wendi Richter, Judy Martin, Velvet McIntyre, Rockin’ Robin and The Jumping Bomb Angels were at the forefront of one of the most exciting era’s in women’s wrestling history.
Kai is a former WWF women’s champion, as well as a former two-time WWF women’s tag team champion. She wrestled at the very first Wrestlemania event in the semi-main event and was part of arguably one of the greatest female tag teams of all time with Judy Martin in The Glamour Girls.
The WWE has faced criticism from fans in recent years for refusing to recognize the hard-working and talented women of the 1980s, especially with the women’s revolution that has been taking place since 2015. Leilani Kai’s name quite often comes up in lists of women who fans believe should be in the WWE Hall of Fame.
Kai is, as of right now, the only woman who wrestled for the WWE in the 80s who is active on public social media platforms. Kai is often seen engaging with fans on her social media pages and posting exclusive, rare never-before-seen throwback photographs.
