More details have emerged on why some of WWE’s female superstars were not medically cleared to perform at this past Sunday’s Clash of Champions pay-per-view event.

Shayna Baszler, Nia Jax, and Nikki Cross were all said to not be medically cleared to compete at the recent Clash of Champions event. As a result, Cross was forced to pull out of her SmackDown Women’s Championship match against Bayley and was replaced by Asuka. Additionally, Jax and Baszler’s tag team title defense against Liv Morgan and Ruby Riott was scrapped.

According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio, all three women did not appear at Clash of Champions due to COVID related issues. Meltzer said he knows for a fact that at least two of the three, and possibly all three, have not tested positive for the virus but were in contact with someone who did. He said WWE kept all three off the show as a precautionary measure. He reiterated that at least two out of the three “are not unhealthy as we speak.

WWE Clash of Champions 2020 took place on September 27, 2020, from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The event was aired live on pay-per-view and the WWE Network from 7pm ET.
