Kairi Sane is reportedly set to retire from the WWE in the very near future.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Sane is looking to retire from the WWE and return to Japan to be with her husband. This coincides with a report by Meltzer months ago in which he spoke about how Sane would be leaving WWE when her contract expired. The report also notes that WWE has known about her wanting to leave since May of this year.
Sane has not appeared on TV since the June 1, 2020 episode of RAW in which she was legitimately injured after suffering a deep cut to her head at the hands of Nia Jax. She has been booked to appear at WWE’s upcoming tapings.
The 31-year-old has enjoyed a huge amount of success since signing with the organization. In 2017, she became the WWE’s first ever Mae Young Classic winner. She went on to become NXT Women’s Champion and eventually WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion. In 2019, at the NXT Year-End awards she won ‘Female Competitor of the Year’ and ‘Overall Competitor of the Year’. At the 2019 WWE Year-End awards, along with Asuka, Sane won ‘Women’s Tag Team of the Year’.
