On this past Monday’s August 17, 2020, edition of WWE RAW, Asuka teamed up with Shayna Baszler to defeat WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions, Sasha Banks and Bayley, in a non-title bout.

In a recent interview with Joseph Staszewski of The New York, Asuka said she felt “comfortable” teaming with Baszler and believes the pair of them will become WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions.

I think we will be the tag-team champions,” she said. “I teamed up with Shayna Baszler and I felt very comfortable with her.”

Asuka has held the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championships once before along with Kairi Sane as part of The Kabuki Warriors. At this Sunday’s SummerSlam event she will challenge Sasha Banks for the RAW Women’s Championship, as well as Bayley for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.

WWE SummerSlam 2020 takes place this Sunday August 23, 2020, from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The event will be aired live on pay-per-view and the WWE Network from 7pm ET.
